Detailed directions and travel information
No public transport available directly to the temple. Malacca's local bus system is limited and does not serve this area efficiently for tourists.
From the heart of Malacca City (e.g., Jonker Street area), Cheng Hoon Teng Temple is just a short drive. Head north on Jalan Hang Jebat, then turn right onto Jalan Tokong. The temple will be on your left. The drive takes approximately 3-5 minutes depending on traffic.
No on-site parking. Visitors typically use nearby paid parking lots or street parking along Jalan Tokong or Jalan Hang Lekiu, if available. Expect to pay around RM 5-10 for a few hours in private lots. Availability can be challenging, especially on weekends.
From Jonker Street: 3-5 mins drive, 5-10 mins walk. From Malacca Sentral: 15-20 mins drive (taxi/Grab).
Visit in the early morning to avoid crowds and experience a more peaceful atmosphere. Wear respectful attire (shoulders and knees covered) as it is an active place of worship. Photography is generally allowed, but be mindful of worshippers.
