No direct public transport to Redang Island. Access is via ferry from designated jetties.
Drive to either Kuala Terengganu (Shahbandar Jetty) or Merang Jetty. From Kuala Lumpur, take the East Coast Expressway (LPT) towards Kuantan, then continue towards Kuala Terengganu. The drive from KL is approximately 5-6 hours. Merang Jetty is about 30-45 minutes north of Kuala Terengganu.
Parking is available at both Shahbandar Jetty (Kuala Terengganu) and Merang Jetty. It is typically a paid service, costing around RM 10-15 per day. Availability is generally good, especially outside peak holiday seasons.
From Kuala Lumpur: Approximately 5-6 hours drive to the jetty + 45-60 minutes ferry ride to Redang Island.
The best time to visit Redang is from March to October, as the island is closed during the monsoon season (November to February). Book ferry tickets and accommodation in advance, especially during peak season. Bring sunscreen, a hat, swimwear, and insect repellent.
