Detailed directions and travel information
No direct public transport available to Kuala Tahan. The most common way is to take a bus from Kuala Lumpur's TBS (Terminal Bersepadu Selatan) to Jerantut, then a local bus or taxi to Kuala Tahan, or a boat from Kuala Tahan jetty.
From Kuala Lumpur city centre, take the Karak Highway (E8) towards Kuantan, then exit onto Route 98 towards Jerantut. From Jerantut, follow signs to Kuala Tahan. The drive is scenic but long. Parking is available at Kuala Tahan.
Free parking is generally available in designated areas near the Kuala Tahan jetty. Availability is usually good, but can be limited during peak seasons. There are also some guesthouses that offer parking for their guests.
From Kuala Lumpur (city centre): Approximately 3.5-4 hours driving to Jerantut, then another 45 minutes to 1 hour to Kuala Tahan. If taking the boat from Kuala Tahan jetty, it's about 2.5-3 hours.
Book accommodation and activities in advance, especially during peak season (March-September). Bring insect repellent, rain gear, sturdy walking shoes, and plenty of water. A permit (RM1) and camera license (RM5) are required upon entry, payable at the park office.
